The Valentine's Ghost Tour is a candlelight walking tour that winds through the Society Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia, ending with an indoor tour of the Powel House, an historic mansion with a legacy of ghostly activity.
The first half of the tour takes you past burial grounds and historic sites with ghost stories that show love in its many manifestations, from the cold-hearted to the heartwarming.
The last half of the tour takes you inside the mansion that was once inhabited by the Revolutionary era mayor of Philadelphia who hosted lavish parties for the rich and famous. Ghostly sightings and paranormal experiences are frequent at the mansion. It is believed to be haunted by at least three spirits, and ghostly echoes from the Powels’ time period are often heard.
A portion of proceeds benefits the Philadelphia Society for the Preservation of Landmarks, the non-profit that maintains the site.
